Short description: The aim of the course is to acquaint students with reproductive physiology of males in domestic species. During the course they are discussed disorders of male genital organs in domestic animal species. Students learn methods of assessment of reproductive potential in males of domestic animals and how to perform andrological examination and how to manage with germ cells in in vitro conditions. Students learn how to collect and assess semen assessment and how to preserve it. Students practice technically procedure of artificial insemination of females.
Full description: Physiological function of male genital organs, the reproductive use of males in breeding program, the plan of breeding soundness evaluation, assessment of male fertility, methods of semen collection, methods of semen assessment and evaluation, technique of artificial insemination, reproductive biotechnical procedures-Assisted Reproduction Techniques.

Learning outcomes: Knowledge: - describes and explains morphology and functions of particulars structures of animal’s organism: cells, tissues, organs and systems (reproductive system) - describes, explains and interprets organ’s and system’s pathologies - describes basics of breeding programs and methods of selection for reproduction Skills: - effectively communicates with client, other veterinarians and representatives of government and municipal administration - takes history to get information about particular animal or herd and their environment - choose and applies suitable treatment Social competences: - puts patients welfare first - has ability to act in conditions of hesitance and under stress - is able to organize work team
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: The rating obtained for the classes of 50% and an assessment of credit obtained from the lectures 50% -> exam. The scope of the exam: lectures.
